What is a Goldendoodle? Golden Retriever + Std. Poodle = Goldendoodle A Goldendoodle is a hybrid dog produced by the breeding of a Golden Retriever with a Poodle.  The size and color of the puppies depend on the size and color of the parent dogs. The colors can vary from white, cream, apricot, golden, red, brown, and black.  The coat can be curly, slightly curly, or just silky.  Weight: 45-80 lbs. ( Standard Poodle cross) ; our golden is 50 lbs. and our Std. poodle is a solid 80 lbs. First generation hybrids take on many of the better traits of their parents.  Combined you get the best of both. In this case they may have waterproof hair, little or no dander helping to reduce or eliminate allergic reactions in many owners, superior intelligence and trainability from the poodle as well as temperment and need for human interaction from the golden. This also is a great combination for a water, hunting, or sporting dog.   Both the Std.Poodle and the Golden Retriever are great family dogs.  They are great with kids, and they are very protective of their family. They play hard with the older children, but are very gentle with the little ones.
